Perfect for VW Touareg : Sylvania 66144 D1S HID - High Intensity Discharge Lamp, Pack of 1
8 months ago the VW dealer replaced my left lamp to the tune of $200. After researching to find the take-apart manual for the Touaege I decided to to do the right one myself. Its a complete pain in the butt thanks to their 'brilliant German engineering" which requires 3 tools and 4 arms to get the headlamp assembly out of the fender. The bulb appears to be a perfect match for the 8 month old bulb, it may be a hair brighter and 'bluer' but I'm sure that is a function of wear on the left bulb. The only way to get a 'perfect' match is to replace in pairs but honestly, I'm not looking into my headlights and therefore don't give a crap. Looks like I saved $160 for 30 minutes of labor (vs. waiting 2 hours for the dealer to get around to it). Other thoughts; the bulb is packed surprisingly well with a hard cardboard tube protecting the glass while the whole assembly is in a flimsy paperboard box. Amazon packaging and shipping is perfect as always.
